Jacob Elordi has starred in countless Hollywood films, to the point fans have only just realized he doesn’t have a natural American accent. Spoiler: he’s Australian!

Jacob Elordi is the rising star of young Hollywood, but it turns out, that some fans have never heard his real voice off-screen – and they’re completely thrown off. The actor was the latest SNL host on January 20; not only was he a first-time host, but it was a moment of realization for fans that he isn’t American. But that just means Elordi’s US accent is too convincing.

Jacob Elordi’s Australian accent has fans doing a double-take

Margot Robbie, Tom Holland, and Millie Bobby Brown are just some actors whose American accents are so impressive people were shocked to discover they were fake. Add Jacob to the list because Twitter only just found out the Euphoria star, 26, is an Australian actor from Brisbane, Australia.

Raised in Melbourne and Brisbane, Elordi is a true Aussie, but his strong accent has lightly sanded off after spending at least six years in Hollywood.

Fans flocked to social media after his SNL monologue to express their confusion – and a newfound obsession with his true voice. Cue the hyperventilating girls.

“Hold on… Jacob Elordi is Australian… HE HAS AN ACCENT,” one fan exclaimed.

“I know this will make me sound dumb but I just discovered Jacob Elordi has an accent and now he’s hotter,” another swooned. Clearly, the celebrity‘s accent is a hit.

Yes, we did:

But not everyone is a fan of the Down Under twang. “Theoretically I should find Jacob Elordi attractive given his size…. but I just can’t with the Australian accent,” one commented.

A second person continued: “Why does Jacob Elordi’s real accent sound fake to me? He’s too good at his American accent.” That’s a compliment to his speech coach.

Vin Diesel was the inspiration behind his American accent

Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel isn’t the first star that comes to mind for his American accent, but that’s exactly who Jacob looked up to for his speech training.

Elordi had been practicing his US accent since age 14 because he wanted to “mimic the people I thought were cool,” he told GQ.

When asked about his idols, the Kissing Booth answered: “Probably Vin Diesel.”

So when is Elordi’s Fast & Furious cameo?
