Neighbours' Troy Beckwith who died after 'tough battle with cancer' won't be having a funeral

Troy Beckwith, a TV icon from a hit soap opera, has tragically died, with his family announcing he won’t be having a funeral. Fans, co-stars and his loved ones have paid tribute to the soap star after he died at just age 48.
Neighbours star, Troy Beckwith, won’t be having a funeral as it was one of his final wishes, his family said. The actor, who played Michael Martin for six years on the beloved TV series, passed away, with his loved ones announcing the news over the weekend. The celebrity has sadly died following a “tough battle with cancer”.
Troy Beckwith’s last wish was ‘not to have a funeral’
Shane, Troy Beckwith’s relative, revealed the star’s cause of death in an emotional tribute. It’s also where he explained to fans there won’t be an official service for the soap star, as it was his final request.
He wrote: “The family would like everyone to know that Troy fought a tough battle with cancer.”
It’s believed Troy hadn’t shared his health battle with his followers, and only those close to him knew of his diagnosis.
His sister, Juanita Sanger, announced the heart-breaking news of his death on social media.
She said: “Troy we will always remember that most mischievous, contagious laugh. Everyone loved you”.
Juanita added: “Boy did we have fun growing up. A free spirit that couldn’t be held down. And the stories… we could write a book! I know mum will be so happy to be reunited with her boy.
“Peace at last”.
She also added the hashtag cancersux to the post.
Co-stars pen emotional tributes
His fellow cast mates also shared moving tributes to honor the star. Kym Valentine, who starred on Neighbours with him, said on Facebook: “It pains me so much to have to say this.
“Our dear old friend Troy Beckwith has passed away. Another member of our TV family gone way too soon.”
Kym also explained Beckwith’s final wish: “There will be no funeral, as per Troy’s request”.
“Thanks for all the memories, my cheeky mate and all my love to your friends and family.”
Neighbours’ official Instagram account also wrote to fans: “Everyone here at Neighbours was very saddened to hear of the passing of Troy Beckwith. Fans will remember Troy for his memorable role as Michael Martin in the 1990s. We send our love and condolences to his loved ones at this very difficult time.
“Executive Producer, Jason Herbison says: ‘Everyone at Neighbours remembers Troy as a very talented young actor who brought passion and complexity to the role of Michael. Our thoughts are with his loved ones’.”
Troy starred as the lead character in Pugwall a children’s series, playing Jeremy ‘Bazza’ Balington. He went on to appear in State Coroner, Blue Heelers and Caffeine.
