Son of San Bernardino fire chief found at bottom of lake

Rescue divers have recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who went missing near a lake just outside San Bernardino, California, it was announced on Sunday.

Divers found the body of Dawson Hartwig, the son of San Bernardino County Fire Chief Mark Hartwig, 30 feet under the surface of Lake Arrowhead, according to KTLA-TV.

Hartwig had not been seen since Friday evening, when he told friends at a rented cabin nearby that he was going for a walk.

When he did not show up on Saturday morning, Hartwig’s friends called the police.

The search for Hartwig was carried out by over 70 sheriff’s deputies, volunteers, divers, and member of K9 units.

Hartwig left his phone and other personal items behind in the cabin, according to officials.
